25th Birthday Cake

This cake I appropriately named Chocolatepalooza!  It is an 8" round single layer chocolate cake decorated with chocolate, pink, and purple buttercream icing.  I made it especially for a small family birthday celebration for twins who really love chocolate!

Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x 1.5 = $3.83 (1 chocolate, .25 pink, .25 purple)
Chocolate Cake: $1.93
Wrapping and Plating: $4.88
Labor: $6.00 per hour x 1.5 = $9
Final Cost: $19.64

Penguin Cupcake Cake

This was my first ever cupcake cake!  I was a little nervous about how the cupcakes would stick together with the icing, but was super easy.  This is a 15 cupcake cake with 8 yellow cupcakes and 7 chocolate cupcakes all decorated in white, black, grey, and orange buttercream icing.  It ended up being about the same size as a 9x13 cake, but this only fed 15 people whereas a 9x13 cake feeds many more depending on the size of the slices.  Below is my final price:

Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x 2.25 = $5.74  (1 white, .5 gray, .5 black, .25 orange)
15 Yellow and Chocolate Cupcakes Mixed: $1.20
Foils and Plating: $2.50
Labor: $6.00 per hour x 3 = $18
Total: $27.44

Spiderman, Superman, and Batman Cupcakes

These cupcakes were made for a little boy’s third birthday who happens to LOVE superheroes! I made 12 of each design and made half of each design chocolate cupcakes and the other half yellow cupcakes in case a guest really wanted a Spiderman chocolate cupcake!  The Spiderman cupcakes have red foils and are decorated with solid red buttercream icing, drizzled black buttercream icing resembling a web, and white and black buttercream icing making the eyes of the mask.  The Superman cupcakes have blue foils and are decorated with solid blue buttercream icing with yellow and red buttercream icing making the Superman logo on top.  I also specialized one of the Superman cupcakes with the little boy’s name and special logo.  The Batman cupcakes have yellow foils and are decorated with solid yellow buttercream icing and the black Batman symbol hand drawn with black buttercream icing.  These were quite time consuming to make, but I think they turned out splendid!

Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x 3.25 = $8.29 (1 red, .5 black, .25 white, .5 blue, 1 yellow)
Yellow and Chocolate Cake: $1.93 x 2 = $3.86 (18 yellow, 18 chocolate)
Foils: $3
Labor: $6.00 per hour x 5 = $30
Total: $45.15

Flower Cupcakes

These cupcakes were made for a client to use as end of the school year thank you gifts for her children’s teachers.  I made the cupcakes and the rest of the presentation was all the creative energy of my client!  The cupcakes are yellow cake and decorated with pink, purple, and yellow buttercream icing to look like flowers. I even found green foils to look like stems.  Adding the cost of the foils is not something I have done when making cupcakes in the past, but as that side of my business grows I feel I must add it as a cost.  Thus, the cost of the cupcakes is as follows:

Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x 1.5 = $3.83
Yellow Cake: $1.93 x.5 = $.97
Foils: $1
Labor: $6.00 per hour x 1.5 = $9
Total: $14.80

#3 Thomas the Train Cake

This yellow cake was cut from a 9x13 cake pan for three year old twin boys who are in love with Thomas the Train!  It is decorated with blue, gray, black, and green buttercream icing with ice cream cone trees covered in green icing.  The train pieces belonged to the boys and were sat on top of the train tracks at the last minute before the party.  The price for this cake is as follows:

Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x 2 = $5.10
Yellow Cake: $1.93
Wrapping and Plating: $4.88
Ice Cream Cones: $.76
Labor: $6.00 per hour x 2 = $12

Subtotal: $24.67

Thomas the Train Cake

This cake was made for three year old twin boys who are in love with Thomas the Train!  The engine is a chocolate cake while the lumber car is yellow.  Both are cut from a 9x13 cake pan.  They are decorated with blue, gray, white, black, green, and yellow buttercream icing and linked together by Twizzlers.  The logs on top of the lumber car are Twix candy.  Below is the final price for this cake that easily fed 35-40 people depending on how large the pieces are cut.

Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x 2.75 = $7.01
Chocolate and Yellow Cake: $1.93 x 2 = $3.86

Lego Batman Cake

I have one regular client who loves to stretch my creative talents and this year she chose a Lego Batman cake for her four year old little boy.  I love a challenge, so instead of just making a Batman cake, I tried to make him look at much like a Lego as possible.  I built out the feet in blocks just like on the actual Lego Batman and contoured the helmet so the eyes and mouth look like they are protected by the helmet.  I also dug out the cape so it looked like the cape was literally behind Batman’s body.  This cake was really hard to make, but way fun and the little boy’s face when he saw his cake was just priceless!

Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x 3.25 = $8.29 (1 navy, 1 light gray, .25 blue, .25 black, .25 brown, .25 dark gray, .25 peach)
Yellow Cake: $1.93 x 2 = $3.86
Wrapping and Plating: $4.88
Labor: $6.00 per hour x 4 = $24
Total: $41.03
