I made these Christmas cupcakes for my neighbors instead of Christmas cookies this year. Rudolph and the holly cupcakes are yellow cake and the Christmas tree is red velvet cake. They are decorated with red, green, gold, white, black, dark brown, and light brown buttercream icing. Rudolph is decorated with chocolate buttercream icing and has pretzels for antlers. It pays to be my neighbor!

cupcake cake and the remaining cupcakes I decorated with random blue and white

Full Body Mickey Cake
This chocolate full body Mickey Mouse cake was made for a
little boy's second birthday. I cut out
most of my cakes free handed, but I have a ton of cake pans clients
occasionally want, so when this client wanted Mickey Mouse I related that I had
a full body Mickey Mouse pan and a Mickey Mouse head only pan. She chose the full body Mickey Mouse pan with
the full understanding that I would have to adapt my 1978 vintage Mickey Mouse
cake pan to be recognizable for a two year old!
The biggest challenge was the vintage Mickey not having a hand, so I
tried to make it look like Mickey's hand was behind his back. I like how it turned out, but I think if I
did this again, I would free hand draw Mickey's hand on his hip. Mickey's face is my favorite part because I
think I free handed that spot on and it was easily the most fun to draw. The final cost for Mickey is below:
Buttercream icing per batch: $2.55 x 2.5 = $6.38
Wrapping and Plating $4.88
Labor: $6 per hour x 4.25 = $25.50
Total: $38.69
Baseball Diamond and Glove Cakes
These yellow baseball themed cakes were made for a little
boy's first birthday party. They were
both cut from a 9x13 cake pan, and the diamond is decorated with green,
chocolate, and white buttercream icing while the glove is decorated with dark
brown, light brown, white, and red buttercream icing. It is
difficult to tell from the pictures, but the pitchers mound on the diamond and
the baseball on the glove are both raised higher than the rest of the
cake. Likewise the stitching between the
fingers of the glove is recessed to give the cake added demission. The cost of the cakes is as follows:
Yellow Cake: $1.93

Bridal Shower Monogram Cupcakes
These cupcakes were my first venture into the world of
bridal! The wedding colors were navy and
gold and the bridal shower had a fall/ country chic theme, so I made 36
cupcakes accordingly. Every cupcake was
initially iced with flat white buttercream icing and embellished with stars
around its circumference. I also matched
the foils and monogram to the wedding colors.
Twelve of the cupcakes were chocolate with navy buttercream, another 12
were yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, and the final 12 were red velvet
with gold buttercream icing for the monogram.
The final price of these cupcakes is as follows:
Foils: $1.50
Labor: $6 per hour x 4 = $24
Total: $37.33
Buttercream icing per Batch: $2.55 x 3.5 = $8.93
12 Yellow, 12 Chocolate, and 12 Red Velvet Cupcakes: $1.93 x

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cupcake Cake
This Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cupcake cake was made for a
little girl's second birthday and is made of 15 yellow cupcakes decorated with
green, blue, yellow, red, black, and white buttercream icing. The additional cupcakes were also yellow cake
flat iced with white buttercream and decorated with yellow, red, blue, and
green buttercream Mickey heads and a black buttercream "2." My favorite part about cake decorating is when
a client asks for something new. This
client really wanted her daughter's birthday message to be written in the
Disney font which I had never done before!
It was so much fun to pipe the swirls into every letter and I think it
came out perfectly!
Here is the final cost of the cupcake cake and 12 additional cupcakes.
Buttercream icing per Batch: $2.55 x 2.75 = $7.01
Yellow Cake: $1.93
Foils and Plating: $2.81

Penguin Cupcake Cake
This was my first ever cupcake cake! I was a little nervous about how the cupcakes would stick together with the icing, but was super easy. This is a 15 cupcake cake with 8 yellow cupcakes and 7 chocolate cupcakes all decorated in white, black, grey, and orange buttercream icing. It ended up being about the same size as a 9x13 cake, but this only fed 15 people whereas a 9x13 cake feeds many more depending on the size of the slices. Below is my final price:
Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x 2.25 = $5.74 (1 white, .5 gray, .5 black, .25 orange)
15 Yellow and Chocolate Cupcakes Mixed: $1.20

Spiderman, Superman, and Batman Cupcakes
These cupcakes were made for a
little boy’s third birthday who happens to LOVE superheroes! I made 12 of each
design and made half of each design chocolate cupcakes and the other half
yellow cupcakes in case a guest really wanted a Spiderman chocolate cupcake! The Spiderman cupcakes have red foils and are
decorated with solid red buttercream icing, drizzled black buttercream icing
resembling a web, and white and black buttercream icing making the eyes of the
mask. The Superman cupcakes have blue
foils and are decorated with solid blue buttercream icing with yellow and red buttercream
icing making the Superman logo on top. I
also specialized one of the Superman cupcakes with the little boy’s name and
special logo. The Batman cupcakes have
yellow foils and are decorated with solid yellow buttercream icing and the
black Batman symbol hand drawn with black buttercream icing. These were quite time consuming to make, but
I think they turned out splendid!

Flower Cupcakes
These cupcakes were made for a
client to use as end of the school year thank you gifts for her children’s
teachers. I made the cupcakes and the
rest of the presentation was all the creative energy of my client! The cupcakes are yellow cake and decorated
with pink, purple, and yellow buttercream icing to look like flowers. I even
found green foils to look like stems.
Adding the cost of the foils is not something I have done when making
cupcakes in the past, but as that side of my business grows I feel I must add it
as a cost. Thus, the cost of the
cupcakes is as follows:
Buttercream Icing per Batch: $2.55 x
1.5 = $3.83
Yellow Cake: $1.93 x.5 = $.97
Foils: $1
Labor: $6.00 per hour x 1.5 = $9
